Obituary

Michael (Mike, Mickey) Harvey McHugh of Fairmont, age 78, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, August 30, 2024. Mike was born on May 11, 1946 to the late Ruth (Keim) and Edward McHugh in Jeanette, Pennsylvania.

Mike leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Sharon (Gleason); his son, Michael; and his cherished granddaughter, Dominica; his only niece, Shelly and her husband Kevin Frank, and their daughters, Karli and Kelly; a brother-in-law, George Beitler; and his nephews, Jeremy and Timothy Beitler. Mike also leaves behind his beloved dog, Geno, and his also much loved cat, Tango. They brought him so much joy.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward McHugh, and his sister-in-law, Rose McHugh; his sister-in-law, Virginia Kunz; brother-in-law, Ronald Kunz; and sister-in-law, Deborah Beitler.

Mike worked in retail most of his life, managing stores for Gold Circle, Hills, and Walmart. He also had opened up his own clothing stores and a restaurant and truckstop. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Mike proudly served his country and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mike was a devout Catholic, a hardworking man, and was dedicated to his family. He loved watching sports, particularly the Mountaineers, Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates. He loved all music, including rock and roll, smooth jazz, and country. He was a member of Vets with Guitars, joining at 75 years old. He was the glue that held the family together and his family will miss him dearly and will always cherish the memories we have together.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Monday, September 9, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral will be at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Father Romeo Bacalso officiating. Interment will follow at West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton with full military honors. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
