Obituary

Nicholas Edward Deiger, 80, of Monongah, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021. He was born in Canfield, OH on October 11, 1941, a son of the late Charles Edward Deiger and Mildred Marie Barnhouse Deiger.

Nicholas graduated from Canfield High School in Canfield, OH and the Memphis School of Preaching. He was a minister for the Sandyville Church of Christ for 7 years, retiring from the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ after 28 years. He was most recently the minister of the Moorsville Church of Christ. He was active in the West Virginia Christian Youth Camp for 55 years, and for over 30 years, he was President of the Board for the West Virginia Christian Youth Camp. He loved working with the kids. Nicholas was a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was a missionary in Murmansk, Russia.

Nicholas is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth Graham Deiger, who he married on November 5, 1966; his son, Nicholas Howard Deiger and his wife Libby; granddaughter, Keelee Rose Deiger; brother, John David Deiger and his wife Lisa; sisters, Ada Mae Neff, Martha Oliver, and Judith Everson, all of Ohio; a niece and nephew, Diane Foster and David Deiger of Ohio; and exchange students, Anders Lonnermark of Sweden, Paivi Pauhala Perko of Finland, and David Nilson of Sweden.

In addition to his parents, Nicholas was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Lou Deiger; sisters, Nancy Lou Deiger and Alberta Ludt; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wilbert and Martha Graham.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue, Fairmont, WV, on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Oakhurst Church of Christ from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral will be on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oakhurst Church of Christ with Peter Ray Cole, Steve Snyder, and Dick Bartrug officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to West Virginia Christian Youth Camp c/o Don Riffle, 12 Columbine Drive, Lost Creek, WV 26385.
