Opal Marie Sims. 91, of Fairmont, passed away Friday, August 02, 2019 at her home, surrounded by family.  She was born July 15, 1928 in Shinnston, WV, daughter of the late John and Lola (O'Dell) Frederick.

Opal was an avid quilter and formerly attended Trinity Assembly of God.  She loved the outdoors and was very family oriented. Opal will be remembered for her remarkable memory and her love of people and animals.

Opal is survived by four children, Janice Powell and husband Warren of Raleigh, N.C., Joyce Conrad and husband Keith of Fairmont, Kathy Lupo of Metz, and Herman Sims and wife Stephanie Graham-Sims of Fairmont; nine grandchildren, Chris Powell and wife Kathleen, Douglas Powell and wife Ashley, Abigail Powell, Kathryn Goins and husband David, Amanda Oldaker and husband Josh, Ian Lupo and wife Kaitlin, Ashley Lupo and fiancé Andrew King, Savannah Sims and fiancé Drew Calandrelli, and Hunter Sims; nine great grandchildren, Avery Powell, Connor Powell, Isabella Powell, Hailey Powell, Jayden Goins, Tabitha Goins, Caleb Oldaker, Gracen Oldaker, and Eila Jane Lupo; and two sisters-in-law, Cleo Frederick, and Dorothy Frederick.  She is also survived by several loving nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Harley Sims; four brothers, Carl Frederick, Harlen Frederick, Orville Frederick, and Lawrence Blair Frederick.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont, on Thursday, August 08, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Friday, August 09, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Charlie Francher officiating.  Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown.  Donations may be made in her memory to the Union Mission of Fairmont (107 Jefferson Street Fairmont, WV 26554) or the Marion County Humane Society (PO Box 905 Fairmont, WV 26554).  Online Condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
