Obituary

"All the King's horses and all the King's men couldn't put our Beloved Brother back together again."

Patrick Dennis Nixon, 62, of Fairmont, WV passed away peacefully December 10, 2021 at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, WV due to complications from congestive heart failure.

Patrick was born July 5, 1959 in Glennallen, Alaska. He was delivered alongside his twin sister, Pamela Denise. The proud parents were Ronald Earle and Mary Kathryn (Shackelford) Nixon, Jr.

Patrick was a 1977 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. His various employments included the Fairmont Field Club, 20/20 Vision, the Outlet for Arts and Crafts, and he enjoyed bartending on the side.

His studies included drafting and always seeking knowledge through extensive reading. He frequented the public library, rarely missed reading the daily newspaper and he treasured his dictionary. Playing Scrabble and cards brought him joy – he loved to challenge his mind.

Patrick was never in a hurry. He possessed a witty sense of humor. He preferred "old school" ways and enjoyed walking everywhere. Never knowing a stranger and running into old friends made his day.

He was passionate reminiscing fond memories of his life in Northway, Alaska and Massena, NY. He was a great inventor and exaggerator of stories. Personal journaling always kept his busy. Patrick had a great respect for our American Flag and the Bible – "The Number One Book" as he referred to it.

Being an avid sports enthusiast, he preferred listening to sports on his treasured radio. A lover of music, he could carry a sweet tune, if he chose to be heard. Playing basketball, frisbee, weight lifting, and karate were activities he enjoyed in his younger years. An avid pool player, he won numerous tournaments partnering with his brother, Ronnie "Bull."

We will remember Patrick as a lover of life – on his terms.

Leaving behind and missing him include, his brother, Timothy Nixon of Fairmont, WV; three sisters, Kathryn Nixon of Fairmont, WV, Patricia Candid (Denver) of Easley, SC, and his twin sister, Pamela Smith (Gary) of Bridgeport, WV; four nieces, Monica Nixon of Wilmington, Delaware, Angelica Croston of Bridgeport, WV, Amanda Barrett of Greenville, SC, and Anneliese Singleton (Jason) of Flemington, WV; and several great nieces and nephews.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Earle and Mary Kathryn (Shackelford) Nixon, Jr. and one brother, Ronald Earle Nixon III.

The family respectfully wants to thank Ruby Memorial Hospital, Camden Clark Medical Center and Worthington Healthcare Center (where he resided his last month) for their compassionate treatment and care of our loved one.

In tribute to Patrick, who we all loved unconditionally, our family wants to extend a heartfelt message to anyone suffering from mental illness and families affected by it. We send prayers of hope, strength, and love. Please support mental illness and awareness.

"The Lord replied, My precious precious child, I love you and I would never never leave you. During your time of trial and suffering, when you saw only one set of footprints. It was then that I carried you."

We are honored to have Domico Funeral Home of Fairmont, WV to be entrusted with Patrick's final arrangements, including cremation. There will be no visitation or services. Donations to Patrick's memory can be made to any homeless shelter or Lion's Club. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
