Roger Dale Sutphin, 79, of Fairmont, WV, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at home. He was born January 5, 1945 in Fairmont, WV. He was the son of the late Elizabeth Scritchfield Sutphin and the late John and Eleanor Sutphin.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed studying the Bible, fishing, magnet fishing, and metal detecting. But his greatest joy was serving the Lord.

He was married to Terry Thompson Sutphin for 56 years. They have three children, Regina Tetrick (Dave), Shannon Sutphin, Ryan Sutphin (Jenny). They have two granddaughters, Alexandra Lee (Kasey), Lily Sutphin, and one great-granddaughter, Mia Lee.

Roger served in the U.S. Army in Korea and later worked for FMC/Galis/Tampella/Eimco as a welder for 26 years. He retired from the Marion County Board of Education. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. He always said he just wanted to serve the Lord however he could, and that's what he did to the best of his ability.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Richard, Kenneth, and Jackie; and two sisters, Eleanor Sutphin and Debbie Podmore of Cleveland, Ohio. He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Groening of Cleveland, Ohio. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much.

Visitation will be a Domico Funeral Home on Gaston Avenue, Fairmont, WV on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, December 6, 2024 on 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Service will be at 5:00 p.m. with Evangelist Steve Stevens presiding.
