Obituary

Ronald "Ron" Eugene "Gene" Sanders, age 75, of Monongah, WV, died Thursday, July 8 th , 2021 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born July 17 th , 1945 in Clarksburg, WV, a son of the late Ronald L. Sanders and Della M. Fox and grandson of the late Della and William "Bill" Fox. Ron married his best friend, partner in life, and loving wife D. Susan Sanders, who survives, on June 17 th , 1989, whom he spent the last 36 years of his life with. Also surviving are his son, Thomas W. Sanders, 27; cousins, Annie Brammer, Hilda Fay and husband Bruce Trump, June Durrett, Martha Neel, Annie Yelich, John and Gypsy Fox, Darlene Long, Norman and Belle Reed, Steve Milam, Gloria June, and Donna LaTorre. Ron is also survived by nieces and nephews, Travis and Christine Durrett, Lucky and Kenny Trump, among others. Ron welcomed all close friends into his family, specifically David "Davey" Shroyer, 32, who was like a son to Ron, John R. Phillips, who became a brother to Ron through many adventures, and military Steve Patton who played a crucial part in Ron's life in the later years, among many others in his extended family throughout the country.

Ronald was a jack-of-all-trades when it came to his working career, having held a variety of positions from warehouse management to truck driving. Ron was a proud Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from the years of 1965 to 1969, serving our country in the Vietnam War during 1966 to 1967. He was a faithful member of Alcoholics Anonymous, with a joyful 20 years of sobriety to better his life and impact so many others along his recovery.

Family and friends are welcome to attend Ron's viewing on Monday, July 12 th , 2021, from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 13 th , 2021 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton, WV with full military honors.
