Obituary

Ronald Edward Turner departed this earthly life November 1, 2025. He was born February 4, 1941 in Shinnston, WV to the late John Wesley Turner and Rosie Lee Barksdale Turner. He was a graduate of Kelly Miller High School, and enlisted in the US Army where he served his country. When he returned from the military, he was employed at Fairmont Hotel and went on to work at Consol Coal Mine Grant Town until the shut down and worked for the Marion County Transit Authority, until he retired.

Ronnie was a man that kept you laughing and loved his family, and was loved by many. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his two step daughters, Nicolette Horton and Benita Horton; grandparents, James York and Lucy; one son, Ronald Turner; three brothers, William "Bill" Barksdale, John Lehman Turner; and Calvin Turner.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Doris Turner, and through this union, three sons, Steven Turner and wife Renee, Ronald Turner and wife Dina, Jermaine Turner and wife Nicole; daughters, Kimberly Fleming and husband Gary, Christalynn Sumlin and husband Andrew of North Carolina; two step daughters, Bertha Horton and Michelle Miles; one step son, William "Billy" Horton and Racquiel; four sisters, Martha Turner and John, Sharon Thurston and Steven, Janet Easterling and Kenny of Richmond, VA, Donna Jones of Cleveland, OH; six brothers, Richard Turner and wife Fanny of Raeford, NC, David Turner and his wife Judith of Maryland, Michael Turner and wife Kimberly of Fairmont, Clarence Turner and wife Carla of Florida, Robert Turner and wife Loraine of Florida, and Leonard Wright and wife Tammy of Fairmont; and a host of grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Monday, November 10, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The service will be at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton with full military honors.
