Sandra Rae (Devores) Mills, age 71, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 31, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 2, 1953, in Fairmont, WV. Sandra was a 1971 graduate of Farmington High School. She married the love of her life, James Brian Mills, on August 3, 1973. Sandra was a loving and devoted wife, mother, Memaw, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Eugene and Betty Lou (Prahl) Devores. Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, James Brian Mills, of Mount Claire; two sons, James Zackary and Kelly Mills of Fairmont; Paul McKinley and Amanda Mills of North Carolina; three grandsons, James Andrew Mills, Zackary Drake Mills, and Ian Parker Mills; sister, Jeanne Yelich of Fairmont; brother Mark and Sheila Devores of Fairmont; niece Holly Yelich of Fairmont and several nieces and nephews. Sandra had many loving friends and neighbors who were frequent visitors and supporters during her battle: Mike and Robin Ash, Pat and Lelah Leonard, Dave and Pam Moore, Peggy Smith, and Pam Chandler.
Sandra enjoyed quilting, going to the beach, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved spending countless hours building Legos with her grandsons. Sandra was a devoted homemaker who loved cooking holiday dinners and baking Christmas cookies for family and friends. Sandra was a Methodist by faith and previously attended Victor Chapel Church in Francis Mines. On January 25, 2025, Sandra and Brian were jointly baptized at their home by Pastor Brian Plum.
At Sandra's request, she will be cremated, and no services will be held. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate team at WVU Hospice Care for their unwavering support and care during Sandra's final days.
