Sarah K. Blackwood (Sally) passed gently from this world on October 18, 2025, after battling symptoms of long-Covid for several weeks. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50+ years, James Blackwood and her son William Douglas Blackwood who died at birth. She was the daughter of the late W.Q. Watters and Kathryn S. Watters.  She is survived by her children Kenton Q. Blackwood of Bridgeport, WV, his wife Diana and their daughter Kate, and her daughter Kathryn 'Kitty' Blackwood of Fairmont, WV.  She has a surviving brother Kester Watters of Berkely, CA, his wife Siu Mei and their children. Beloved by nieces and nephews and a large family of close in-laws from across the US, she was preceded in death by siblings William Watters and Patricia Jennings.

Born in Charleston, WV, she graduated from Charleston High School and attended WVU. As a young woman she enjoyed the woods, camping, hiking, swimming, boating, and spelunking. A Marion County resident for 50+ years, she was an administrator for the WV Arts and Crafts Fairs and chaired efforts for historic preservation in Fairmont. A believer in the teachings of Jesus, she was a life-long progressive and supported many women's causes. She was a licensed paramedic with the Marion County Rescue Squad for many years and was the CFO of the family architectural business, Blackwood Associates, until retiring in 2012.
