Sarah Kathryn McLaughlin, 75, of Fairmont, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024. She was born in Fairmont on July 15, 1949, a daughter of the late Sardie Brant Welch and Beverly Ann Hall Welch.

Sarah helped run the College Lunch in the 80s. She was also a big part of Marco's Can-AM when it started in 1991 and helped every year until around 2003. She loved her sports teams WVU and the Cleveland Browns. She knew a lot of people and if she didn't know you, she would still speak to you. Her infectious laugh and smile will never be forgotten and always be remembered. She was always the life of the party, as I'm sure she is up above.  We take comfort in knowing that she is with loved ones, especially her mother. Her precious moments were spending time with her grandkids and friends. She was employed by Fairmont State University until her retirement in 2016.

Sarah is survived by her children, Sean Shannon and his wife Mary Jo, and Whitney McLaughlin; grandchildren, Marcus and Abigayle Shannon; and a brother, Sardie Brant Welch III.

In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard Hall Welch and James Michael Welch; and a niece Krista Welch Tibbetts.
