Obituary

Sherry Jean (Myers) Colanero, 75, of Monongah, WV died peacefully in her home, surrounded by family on December 13, 2023, just 48 hours after the death of her husband Robert Colanero. Sherry was predeceased by a daughter, Marna Marie Colanero who died at birth and her brother Gary Myers. She is survived by her daughter Marcey Sullivan (Mike), two grandchildren, Emily Sullivan-Kelly (Jillian) and Patrick Sullivan, and a brother, Larry (Rickie) Myers.

Sherry was the youngest child of Sherman and Goldie (Basagic) Myers of Monongah. After graduating from Monongah High School in 1966, Sherry enjoyed living in Maryland where she graduated from Maryland Medical Secretarial School. Upon her return to Monongah, her brother Gary introduced her to her future husband of 55 years, Bob.

Sherry worked at Manchin Clinic and later Helmick Corporation, but her career never superseded the job of wife and mother. She worked tirelessly and sacrificed for her family, helping send her daughter Marcey to college. Once empty-nesters, Sherry took up golf and she and Bob enjoyed many years playing together as members of Green Hills. When Sherry wasn't golfing with Bob, she was playing with her cherished friends in the Women's League. She also enjoyed taking her mother, Goldie, to Bingo or on an occasional trip to Las Vegas.

Sherry loved her family and liked to share her love through cooking, especially for Bob. She enjoyed collecting recipes and cookbooks and spoiling her grandchildren with dozens of Christmas cookies that annually made the trip to South Bend, IN when Bob and Sherry visited Marcey, Mike, Emily, and Patrick.

Sherry will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Bob in a private ceremony on Jan. 12, 2024. Please direct any contributions you would like to make in lieu of flowers to WVU Medicine Hospice, in care of Domico Funeral Home 414 Gaston Ave. Fairmont, WV 26554.
