Shirley Lou Moore, 81, of Fairview, WV died Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the Madison Center Genesis Healthcare in Morgantown, WV.
She was born on August 25, 1938 in Fairview, to the late Jacob Marion French and Helen Virginia Toothman Brookover.
She was a member of the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ, longtime member and officer of the Fairview Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, Fairview Woman's Club, and Fairview High Graduate – Class of 1956.
She was a hard-working, independent homemaker for her family, church, and community.
She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and crafts, working in her yard, being on her iPad and computer, doing family genealogy, watching TV – especially Jeopardy, football, and basketball, attending church fellowships and functions, attending the Clay-Battelle Lunch Bunch, helping with the Pizza Sales, and cooking and baking cream filled pies and salt-rising bread.
She worked previously as a floral designer at Fairview Floral/Greenhouse.
Shirley is survived by four children and their family: Susan and Mark Heiskell of Fairmont, Kenny and Jill Moore of Fairview, Linda and Allen Statler of Core, and Gary and Ruth Moore of Fairview; 13 grandchildren, Greg Heiskell, Stephanie and Dave Rossi, Dustin Moore, Nikita Moore, Anthony and Jessica Augustine, Corey Augustine, Jason Statler, Amanda Statler, Alec Statler, Kaden Statler, Mandy and Matt Tolliver, Amy Simmons, and Danielle Moore; 6 great grandchildren, Casen Rossi, Reuben Moore, P.J. Augustine, Aubrie Statler, Nathan Tolliver, and Jack Tolliver; a brother, Norman and Sue Brookover of Guernsey, OH; a sister, Alberta and Murle Toothman of Farmington, WV; a sister-in-law, Carol Brookover of Kimbolton, OH; brothers-in-law, Fred and Mary Moore of West Union, WV, and Stanley Tennant of Fairmont, WV; several nieces, nephews, friends, and lots of cousins.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Perry Eugene Moore, who passed away November 1, 2006; two brothers, Marion Gay Brookover and Albert Lee Brookover; sisters-in-law, Elaine Tennant and Freeda Moore; and a brother-in-law, Carl Moore.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone in the community, staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Wheeling Acuity Specialty Hospital, and Madison Center Genesis Healthcare for all their cards, phone calls, support, and prayers for the past couple months.
The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home – Curry Chapel, 100 Grant Street in Fairview, on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. She will lie in state at the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ in Fairview on Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at the Pumpkin Center Church of Christ on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor John Conaway officiating.
