Stephen was born April 3, 1963 in Harlem, NY, the son of the late James Ronald Black and Elise Hensley.

Stephen attended Grant Town Grade School and graduated from Rivesville High School.He was a factory worker in the fabric industry in New York for a few years. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and West Virginia University Mountaineers.

Stephen is survived by his sister Wanda Dunning of Dayton, OH. In addition to his sister, he leaves to cherish his memories: 1 loving and dedicated aunt Cynthia Black of Grant Town, WV; aunts Elaine Ellington and Willa Short of New York;  1 dedicated uncle Cedric E. Black of Fairmont, WV, and uncles Al Hensley of New York, and Gerald Hensley of Maryland and 1 aunt in law Edna Black of Charleston, SC; devoted cousins LaShawna (Charles) Norman of Gainesville, VA,Cedric N. Black of Fairmont, WV, and cousin Renee Hensely of Dayton, OH along with 2 nieces Me-Shell and Leslie Mattison of Dayton, OH and several cousins.A host of devoted friends to include: Kevin Akers, Alex Mitchell, and Anthony "Bo" Haley.

In addition to his parents, Stephen is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, 4 uncles ( Charles,Kennethharry, Gerald, and Leslie Black); 2 aunts (Geneva Maddox and Patricia Black); and 1 uncle-in-law (Otis Maddox)

Friends and family may visit from 10am until 11:30am Saturday March 14 at Mount Beulah Missionary Baptist Church Main Street in Grant Town, WV. The funeral will be held on Saturday March 14 at 12pm at the Mount Beulah Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Wesley Q. Dobbs officiating.
