Obituary

Tera Lynn Bryant, 55, of Fairmont, WV, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, surrounded by love.

She was born on July 21, 1970, to Priscilla Nevels and James Nevels, and was lovingly raised by her mother, Joan Clay and Rev. Abraham Clay. She was truly blessed with the love and guidance of two mothers, both of whom shaped the woman she became.

Tera was known for her strength, generosity, and the way she made everyone feel like family. Whether it was through a warm meal, heartfelt advice, or her unforgettable laughs, she had a way of making people feel seen and loved.

She was a proud homemaker who poured her heart into her family. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her kids and grandkids, especially during holidays, cookouts, or a good old game of spades. She loved her gospel music and dancing around the house.

Tera was blessed to have two special gifts, one for turning everyday moments into something worth celebrating, the other was remembering birthdays and anniversaries of her family and friends, and if you were truly blessed, you got that Happy Birthday song as only she could sing to you.

Her faith was strong and her joy had a way of spreading to everyone around her. Tera was preceded in death by her loving husband, Phillip Bryant; her brother, Myron Cosby; her grandmothers, Rosalee Cosby-Cosby, Harriet Nevels, Eva M. Bryant Washington, and Ophearl Bush; her grandfathers, Talmadge "Tab" Bryant and Mr. Bush; her mother-in-law, Jeanette Bryant Turner; and aunts, Dawna Bush and Mary R. Bryant Walker; and her cousin and dear friend, Staff Sergeant John L. Turner.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Vanessa Bryant and Darnell Bryant, both of Fairmont, WV, and Phillip "PJ" Bryant and Miah of Seattle, WA. Her memory is also carried on by her siblings, Robert White Clay (Edith), James White (Dottie), Rose McClure (Scott), Roddruss Clay (Marsha), Joanne Maddox, James Nevels of Pittsburgh, PA, Dorian Clay (Tina), Johnny Brown, Austin Brown-Clay (Daisy), of Alabama, Aaron Clay (Cindy) of Arlington, VA, Sgt. Robert Hopkins Jr., Angela Dillard of Fairmont, WV, Monica Sewell of Dover, DE, and James Phillips (Nyla) of Fairmont, WV.

She is also survived by her father-in-law, David K. Turner of Martinsburg, WV; her sisters-in-law, Jenean (Erik) Deahl of Great Mills, MD, Nycole Johnson, and Stacey Pierre-Louis of Inwood, WV; her brothers-in-law, Andrew Bush of Marietta, OH, Anthony Bush of Wilkes-Barre, PA, and Marina Miller of Fairmont, WV.

Her grandchildren were the light of her life, Xavier Bryant, Syniah Rollins, Aubrionna Bryant, Renaelynn Bryant, Jason Jacob, Alexander "Xander" Bryant, Kaori Arnold-Bryant, Da'Quest Bryant, KaiReese Bryant, and Ny'kel Bryant.

She leaves behind her lifelong best friend, Natasha Marion of Cleveland, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; and dear family and friends who will miss her deeply.

A celebration of life will be held on August 9th at Baptist Temple, 430 Morgantown Avenue in Fairmont, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Clay officiating.
