Thelma Jean Tennant, 88, of Fairview, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020 in her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born March 31, 1931 in Fairview, a daughter of the late John Sherman Statler and Charlotte Morris Statler.
She enjoyed journaling, cooking, quilting, crocheting, crosswords, and cryptograms. She was a mother to many in times of need.
Thelma is survived by her husband of 65 years, Billie James Tennant; children, Martin "Matt" Moody, Jr., James D. Tennant and his wife Ronda, Judith Cox and her husband Larry, Deborah Stahl and her husband Robert, and Jackie Dunlap and her husband Ron; grandchildren, Theresa Cox, Veronica "Roni" Peasak, Larry B. Cox, Jr., Jamie Parrish, Casey Tennant, Troy Tennant, Roger D. Stewart, Michael J. Stewart, Melissa D. Cornell, Amber K. Moody,Renee Eastham, and Jarrod Moody; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; a sister, Barbara Statler Knotts; and several beautiful nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her siblings, Wilma Elaine Statler, Eva Marie Gregor, Rex "Bud" Statler, Geneivive "Babs" Statler, Ruth Ann Pittinger, Jack Earl Statler, Gene Beryl Statler, William "Billy" Clyde Statler. John S. Statler, Ronald Lee Statler, and Katherine Sue Statler; a son, John Glenn Moody; and a grandson, Joshua Moody.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Fairview Food Pantry.
The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home – Curry Chapel, 100 Grant Street in Fairview, on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Robin Norsworthy officiating.
