Tom was predeceased by his wife Naomi Jean Cook and his son Thomas Lewis Cook Jr. and his sister Dolores Smith.
He was born in Fairmont, WV to William Lewis Cook and Ida May Cook. Tom joined the Navy in 1958 as a Seaman and served into the early 1960's. While stationed in France, he brought back to his nieces, Patty and Susie, a doll, which they still have to this day. Tom worked for Alcan Aluminum and retired from there after many years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and garden. He was a member of the Fleming Memorial Church in Fairmont. He was a man who was always first to volunteer to help anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Tom is remembered by his family and friends for his big heart, sense of humor and positive outlook on life. His generosity and kindness also extended to the love of animals and animal rescue. He was a huge supporter of the Marion County Humane Society and all the work that they do. Tom tried never to miss a Sunday afternoon at his daughter's house and to visit the "pups" Oslo and Juneau, doting on them with their favorite treats. Over the years, Tom took in many stray cats that happened to his door. It was as if they knew they were finally safe, finally home. His heart had no boundaries.
Tom was a great man, like no other.
