Obituary

Timothy Wayne Scritchfield, Jr. (T.J.), 30, of Monongah died June 13, 2019 unexpectedly at the home of his dear friend.

T.J. was born in Fort Knox, KY on October 19, 1988 to Timothy Wayne and Kathy Lyne Scritchfield of Monongah.

He was survived by his parents who loved him unconditionally; his sister, Samantha and her husband Matthew Lieving of Fairmont; an infant nephew, Legend Wayne Lieving, who he never had the chance to meet; paternal grandmother, Mary Schritchfield of Monongah; maternal grandmother, Barbara Jackson of Farmington; and a very special aunt, Shelly and niece Abigail Shuck of Fairmont, who have always been there for him. T.J. is also survived by multiple aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

T.J. was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John Scritchfield; maternal grandfather, Earl Shuck; and a step grandfather, Harold Jackson; and uncle, Michael Scritchfield; and an aunt, Cindy Shuck.

T.J. was a 2007 graduate of North Marion High School, where he enjoyed his years performing in bother the band and noteables. Everyone who knew T.J. loved him. He was hilarious, dramatic, and unreserved. T.J. was a friend to all. Everyone enjoyed his infectious personality.

T.J. spent most of his adult life working in the food industry, most recently, managing at Zaxby's in Winchester, VA. T.J. enjoyed playing tennis, cards, board games, and watch any Netflix series that involved witches.

T.J. had plenty of great years with too many friends to name. Although, in recent years, he also had his fair share of hardships. T.J. struggled with addiction. He fought very hard for his sobriety with support from his family and friends, but, ultimately, he could not bear the disease. T.J. leaves behind family and friends who wish they could have done more. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a local recovery and addiction facility in T.J.'s name, so we can bear this dreaded disease.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Stalnaker officiating. Interment will follow at the Scritchfield Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
