Obituary

Violetta Ann Straight, lovingly known by all as "Ging," went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2025. Born on February 24, 1930 in Fairmont, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Giacomo Morrone and Philomena Parrise Morrone. She graduated from Fairview High School in 1948 and soon began a life centered on family, community, and caring for others.

Ging dedicated 23 years of her life to the children of Marion County Schools, working as both a reading aide and librarian aide. She cherished every student she met and deeply valued the friendships she built with her school family. She was a Catholic by faith and a member of St. Anthony's Parish in Grant Town, West Virginia, where she was also a member of St. Anthony's Altar Society.

Family was truly the center of her world. She expressed her love through the meals she cooked, the baked goods she shared, and the warm hospitality that filled her home. No one ever left her table hungry and most were sent home with "to go" containers to enjoy later. She delighted in traveling, shopping, walking, and her daily conversations with friends.

Ging was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, James R. Straight. She was also predeceased by her brothers Umbreto Morrone (Anna), Leonard Morrone (Theresa), and John Morrone (Doris); her sisters Suzetta Toothman (Bob), Amelia Bryan (Eddy), and Adelyn McFarland (Fred); and a special niece, Patricia Michael (Jack).

She is survived by her two daughters: Suzanne Efaw (Bill) and Mary Beth Aliveto (John); her grandchildren: Amanda Longwell (Dana), Ryan Efaw, Samuel Aliveto (Holly), and John Paul Aliveto (Jamie); and her great-grandchildren: Camden Longwell, Trey Longwell , Sydney Longwell, Allyson Postlethwait, Lorilei Aliveto, Amelia Aliveto, Seth Aliveto, and Sophia Aliveto. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Howard Straight (Gloria), and several nieces and nephews.

Ging's life was enriched by the love and friendship of four very dear friends: Evelyn Tucker, Susan Underwood, Glendora Headley, and Josephine Pitrolo.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Fazio's Elder Care for the kindness and care they provided during her stay.

Ging will be remembered for her generosity, her warm heart, and the joy she brought to every life she touched. Her love lives on in her family and in the memories she leaves behind.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The funeral will be on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Monumental Cemetery.
