Obituary

Virginia Keighron Shaw, 96 years old, resident of Brockport NY, passed away peacefully at her home, January 22, 2022.

Virginia, known to friends and family as "Jimmie", was born December 14, 1925, in Fairmont WV, to her parents, Eugene and Virginia Shurtleff Keighron.

Her young days were spent in her birthplace, where she graduated from Fairmont State College, after beginning her studies at West Virginia University. Following marriage to C.W. Shaw Jr., B&O Railroad executive, she moved frequently with her family, residing in various towns of West Virginia and in the Baltimore/Washington area of Maryland, before retirement in the Brockport area.

She is survived by three children and their spouses: Gregory (and Katherine) of Scrabble WV, Mark (and Nancy) of Charles Town WV, and Cilla Shaw Drinkwater (and Glenn) of Brockport. Her eldest son, Geoffrey of Leetown FL, is deceased. In addition, her surviving family includes her grandchildren: Korinna Lark, Abdias Shaw, Moira Rivera, Molly Grattan, Jenny Grattan, Alice Stix, Claire Grattan, Sean Harris, and ten great-grandchildren.

Recruited out of high school as a Code Girl for the World War II Signal Corps, Jimmie will be remembered as a woman of many interests, a reader staying up-to-date on current events and ready to offer her opinions, a multi-media artist, and an accomplished seamstress and needleworker who often volunteered her skills to provide warm wear to needy children. She particularly enjoyed car trips, exploring the Genesee Valley with daughter Cilla, who lovingly cared for her in her last years. The family is grateful to Kasey Warner, who provided attentive professional support.

Jimmie will rest with her ancestors, whose West Virginia roots are traced to one hundred years before the founding of the Mountain State.

Funeral arrangements will be made through Domico Funeral Home in Fairmont.

A graveside burial service will take place Wednesday, February 2, in East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown WV.
