Obituary

William Edward Cobb, Sr. (known as Pap to most), 96 of Orlando, WV, passed away on December 4, 2024 in the comfort of home and family.

Pap was born May 13, 1928 in Central, West Virginia, the son of Andrew & Teresa Cobb.

Pap joined the Army in 1952 where he served as an Engineer Equipment Mechanic until 1954 when he was honorably discharged. He worked at US Steel for the remainder of his life until he retired.

Pap was passionate about being outdoors and enjoyed living out in the secluded countryside. His hobbies included: fishing, traveling, hiking, working in his garden, and tinkering with all the projects that kept him busy. Pap was never a sedentary man and was always on the move. He especially loved when his grandchildren would come to stay for weeks at a time.

One of the greatest memories the grandchildren who stayed will always remember is Pap driving 45 minutes into town just to get bucket of ice cream to eat while watching a movie and riding on his lawnmower.

Pap believed in the Lord, Jesus Christ, and although he did not belong to a church, he was an advent listener of Sunday Service on the radio every week.

Remaining to cherish Pap's memory is one son,  William Edward Cobb, Jr. known as Eddy (Linda); daughters, Gloria Mccann & Sharon Maxon; one step son Mike Cress (Jennifer); one brother, Donald Cobb; eight grandchildren, Lori Claypole (Chris), Nova Hildreth (Ray), Porsha Wright (Derek); William Edward Cobb III, Beretta Cobb (Travis Banick), Christian Cobb (Brianna Dixon), John Darrell Cobb Riviera, Lisa J Doverspike (Allen); eleven great-grandchildren, Shelby Heldreth, Braelynn Banick, Sydney Wright, Brinleigh Cobb, Easton Banick, Jack Wright, Avaiah Cobb, Robert A Doverspike, Mikeal D Doverspike (Guilia), Johnathon & Francisco; two great great-grandchildren, Elena Doverspike & Archer Doverspike.

Preceding Pap in death are spouse, Shirley Cobb; son, John Darrell Cobb; brothers, Denver Cobb, Junior Cobb, Eugene Cobb, and Dale Cobb; a sister, Dorothy Baber; and devoted companion of many years, Mea Waupoose.
