Celebrating The Life Of Wyonia Stevens
Wyonia Stevens was born in Monongah, West Virginia on April 29 , 1935 to the union of John Henry Hughes and Lorraine Bass-Wills and was the oldest of 8 children. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Stevens Jr, both parents, son Roger Stevens, granddaughter Carmen Stevens, grandson Roger Jermaine Stevens, sisters Henrietta Hughes-Johnson & Delores Kindred, brother Earl Hughes, and son-in-law Kenneth Keys.
She leaves to cherish her memories with her five children: Lorraine Stevens, Irene Keys, Charles Stevens Jr, Sheila (Keith) Murphy and Lotasha Stevens. Her daughter-in-law Bridgette Stevens, her grandchildren; Damon Stevens, Darnell Stevens, Chantel Stevens, Brittany Dandridge, Brandon Smith, Kharon Harrell, Kyrie Harrell and Messiah Jones. Her great grandchildren Malia Stevens, Jaylee Stevens, Bria Marie Joyner, Bella Ann Sumlin and Chancellor Christopher Jr. Sisters Geraldine Johnson, Lorraine Russell, Lynn Renee Chaney and Jessie Wills-Cofield, Godson Jason Davis and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Ms. Wy shared a special relationship with her cousin Jay C McCullough, and friends Ted Davis, Gerald Fitzpatrick and Fayette Hillson.
She was baptized at an early age at Morning Star Baptist Church, she attended Dunbar School. Ms. Wy worked for Henry Oil Company and Marion County Surgical Association for over 45 years. She enjoyed cooking, planting flowers, decorating, making crafts, shopping and going on risky adventures with her sister Lynn Renee Chaney.
Services will be held on Friday October 22 at Morning Star Baptist Church at 100 McKinney St, Fairmont WV. Viewing will begin at 11:00, funeral at 1:00. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Tygart Center Nursing Home and Amedisys Hospice for the loving care provided to Mrs. Wy in her final days.
